A man has surrendered to San Diego Police in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 49-year-old woman earlier this month.

On Aug. 1, at 3 a.m., the woman was crossing at the intersection of National Avenue and 28th Street in the Logan Heights area of San Diego.

While crossing, a vehicle struck her in the crosswalk while making a left turn from westbound National Avenue to 28th Street. The vehicle fled the scene following the collision.

The woman sustained serious injuries, and was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Erick Rios, 31, surrendered at 12:15 p.m. Friday to traffic investigation detectives. He was booked into the county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.

The vehicle involved was identified as a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.
