A family of five and their dog escaped from a fire in their home Tuesday, according to media reports.

The fire broke out at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday in the home in the 1300 block of Raven Avenue after the family’s heater was turned on and a fire spread into the attic, according to OnScene TV.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and evacuated the family without any reported injuries, the video news service said.

The fire was stopped within 10 minutes but the home was full of smoke.

The family and their dog were displaced.
