In what is becoming a routine occurrence, a SpaceX rocket lit up the sky over San Diego at sunset on Saturday with the launch of more Starlink satellites for global internet service.
The Falcon 9 blasted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 7:25 p.m. with a payload of 21
satellites, including six with new direct to cell capability.
The rocket’s reusable first stage later landed successfully on the drone ship “You Know I Still Love You” in the Pacific Ocean, completing its sixth flight.
SpaceX plans to put over 12,000 Starlink satellites into orbit to provide worldwide internet service. Flights from both Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg are occurring weekly.
The growing network has been crucial to Ukraine’s military, providing secure communications to help it fight the Russian invasion.
