Trains will not operate along the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo rail line between the Oceanside Transit Station and the Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego this weekend due to maintenance projects.
The closure will take place on Saturday and Sunday with regularly scheduled service resuming Monday, according to transit officials.
“Weekend closures occur periodically throughout the year on a pre- determined schedule to provide construction crews the opportunity to work safely on and along the rail line to complete preventative maintenance improvements and advance major railroad construction projects,” the North County Transit – San Diego Railroad said in a statement.
During this time, San Diego Association of Governments construction crews will work on the Batiquitos Lagoon Double Track project and stabilizing the Del Mar bluffs.
No passenger or freight trains will operate during the closure, including Amtrak and NCTD’s COASTER line, but test trains, construction vehicles and equipment will be active.
Officials advised residents to remain alert along the corridor and to cross the rail line at designated crossings.
