Earth Day 2017 V03

More than 50,000 people are expected in Balboa Park Sunday for the 28th annual EarthFair.

The free event will feature a children’s parade, climate science activity area and hydrogen-powered car, among other attractions.

EarthFair will also include a “Canna Village” made up of 40 vendors in the cannabis industry.

“We are proud to join others in our local community to promote best practices for a healthier planet,” said Medical Marijuana Inc. CEO Stuart Titus. “EarthFair 2017 is a great opportunity to learn about environmental sustainability and ways that hemp can improve both our health and wellness and our planet’s well being.”

Overall, EarthFair will feature more than 300 exhibitors, special theme areas, a food pavilion, a children’s activity Area, four entertainment venues, and an arts and crafts show, organizers said.

Parking in the area is expected to fill up quickly, so public transportation is encouraged. Trolley riders can get off at the City College station and either walk up Park Boulevard or catch the No. 7 bus. The No. 120 bus goes to the west side of Balboa Park.
