The Orion spacecraft which completed its maiden flight Friday is expected to arrive at Naval Base San Diego Monday aboard the USS Anchorage.
The capsule splashed down in the Pacific Ocean at 8:29 a.m. within sight of sailors on the deck of the San Diego-based ship.
Sailors in small boats hooked lines to the craft and towed it into the well deck of the Anchorage, an amphibious transport dock
Orion landed approximately 600 miles southwest of San Diego after completing a two-orbit, 4.5 hour flight test that took it farther into space than any spacecraft built for humans has been in more than 40 years.
