Two Point Loma High swimmers scored three-peats at the CIF Div. II swimming finals held May 8-9 at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
Alex Pletcher, a junior, took his third consecutive title in the boys’ 200-yard freestyle event, taking the title with a time of 1:37.22, besting his winning time last year of 1:39.17. Pletcher set the state record of 1:35.63 at the 2025 state meet.
For an encore, Pletcher entered the boys’ 100-yard butterfly event and won that also with a time of 49.28.
But Pletcher wasn’t done there. He then anchored the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay as the Pointers placed second with a time of 1:25.96, just .67 of a second behind the winning team, Cathedral Catholic. Other members of the team were senior Leon Chen, Owen Lowe and junior Anderson Bochstaler Jr.
Senior McKenna Carroll placed first in the girls’ 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.87.
Carroll also defeated all competitors in the girls’ 200-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 1:50.89.
In the girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay, Carroll was back at it, swimming fourth on a team including sophomore BreeAnn Carroll, junior Lillian Campanile and freshman Olivia Rawlings. Their second-place time was 1:40.73, behind the 1:37.89 time from La Jolla High’s swim team.
