The 35th annual Carlsbad Marathon welcomed over 7,000 participants to its event Sunday, where runners could choose different distances to compete in. 

People could choose between a marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon, (13.1 miles) or a 5K (3.1 miles). All distances began at The Shoppes at Carlsbad.

In the men’s division, Nicholas Spector from Anaheim finished the marathon in first place overall, with a 5:51 mile pace, and a total runtime of 2:33:33. Blake Dunkleberger of Encinitas and Tesfaye Wosene finished the marathon in second and third place overall, respectively.

The women’s marathon course was won by Jenna Gasparinni of Coronado, who clocked a 2:58:10 time. Shannon Clancy from North Arlington, New Jersey finished second and Sarah Myers from Saint Petersburg finished third.

In the non-binary marathon division, Kritin Karkare finished first with a time of 3:30:43. 

San Diego native Dylan Marx had the best time in the men’s half marathon at 1:07:06. Carlsbad native Phoebe Massey finished first in the women’s half marathon with a time of 1:20:54

Eddie Ramos from San Diego finished first in the men’s 5K, and Stefanie Cullingford of Canyon Lake finished first in the women’s 5K.
