The 45th annual DIRECTV Holiday Bowl will bring the east coast and west coast together, with a match up that will feature Syracuse from the ACC against Washington State of the Pac-12 on Friday, December 27.
“Syracuse and Washington State are tremendous football programs and to have them square off right here in San Diego on December 27 is so great,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego who produces the DIRECTY Holiday Bowl.
Washington State, making their fifth appearance in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl, finished 8-4 but ended their season on a three-game losing streak after starting 8-1. All three losses were one-score games, as the Cougars fell to New Mexico, Oregon State and Wyoming.
Syracuse ended their season on a completely different note, winning their final three games to push their record to 9-3. Their season finale win against Miami put a cap on an impressive season, as Miami was ranked No. 6 in the country at the time.
With the transfer portal opening soon, there could be many players that served key roles during the regular season not dressed for the bowl game in southern California.
The DIRECTV Holiday Bowl is set to kick off Friday, December 27 at 5 p.m. PST from Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
