Following a close loss at home to Washington State, San Diego State travels up north to play one of their toughest games this season against the No. 15-ranked Boise State Broncos.

The Broncos’ only loss – they are 6-1 and 3-0 in the Mountain West – came on a game-winning field goal to the now No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks.

Premier Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has taken the sports world by storm with his big-play ability and stat-stuffing performances. Jeanty leads all of college football in rushing yards with 1,376, over 200 more yards than the second leading rusher.

SDSU coach Sean Lewis acknowledged how difficult it will be to stop a player like Jeanty, whose name has come up in Heisman Trophy talk all year.

“He’s a physical runner with home run speed,” Lewis said. “An individual effort and an individual talent that requires a tremendous group effort by everyone in the building this week.”

Jeanty and the Broncos have been ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 for six straight weeks. The standout running back has averaged over 10 yards per carry in four of his seven games this season, and his low rushing total for a single-game is 127 yards.

Since 2000, San Diego State (3-4, 2-0 MW) has not fared well on the road against ranked opponents, sporting a 1-14 record. Boise State has won the last two matchups against the Aztecs, in both 2022 and 2023.

Friday’s kick off is at 5 p.m. PST and will air Fox Sports 1.
