The US women’s national team will play in the Olympic gold medal match, after defeating Germany 1-0 in a semifinal match Tuesday.

The US will play again on Saturday, where they will face the winner of Brazil vs. Spain.

The only goal scored in the entire match came in the 95th minute, where a San Diego-area athlete played a hand in the winning goal.

Naomi Girma, who plays for the San Diego Wave FC, started the chain of passes through Germany’s defense, which led to Sophia Smith scoring the lone goal.

Girma has been rock solid for the women’s national team, playing in every single minute in the Olympics thus far.

Other highlights from the game included a last-minute save from US goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher to prevent Germany from tying the match.
