
UC San Diego women’s volleyball released its full 2024 schedule, announced by head coach Melanie Greene.
Following an exhibition match on August 24 at San Diego State, The Tritons begin their first full NCAA Division 1 season on August 30, hosting Northern Arizona as part of the UC San Diego Invitational in LionTree Arena. UC San Diego hosts Southern Utah on August 31, and the tournament wraps up on September 1 against Gonzaga. The Tritons will also host three neutral matches between participating teams during the weekend.
UC San Diego will play 11 non-conference opponents in four different tournaments before Big West play begins September 26.
“We’re excited about the various match ups we will encounter this pre-season,” said Greene. “Our squad is ready for the opportunity to be challenged and adapt, as we prepare for a tough conference.”
The following three tournaments are all on the road.
The first will see the Tritons travel to Annapolis, Maryland September 6-8 for the Kristen Dickmann Invitational hosted at Navy. UC San Diego will face Cornell, Liberty and Navy.
The second tournament is the Erie Insurance Invitational in Harrisonburg, Virginia on September 12-13, hosted at James Madison. The Tritons square off against the host school Thursday, then take on Western Michigan Friday.
The final weekend of non-conference play sees the Tritons traveling to USC, where the SoCal Cup will be hosted September 19-21. USC, Loyola Marymount and UNLV.
UC San Diego opens conference play on the road at UC Riverside on September 26 and at UC Davis on September 28.
The Tritons kick off their Big West home schedule by hosting Long Beach State October 3, followed by Hawaii the next night. Long Beach State and Hawaii were the two 2023 Big West finalists, with Hawaii beating Long Beach State to be crowned Big West Champions.
