
San Diego State alums – and brothers – Cameron Thomas and Zachary Thomas will be honorary coaches for Saturday’s spring game, the Aztec FAST Showcase.
The duo, each now in the NFL, led San Diego State to a school-record 12 victories in 2021 and No. 25 ranking in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Cameron Thomas, 23, was an Aztec from 2018-21 before being drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Through the first two seasons of his career, Cameron has played in 32 games for Arizona, registering 37 tackles and three sacks.
At SDSU, he recorded 21 sacks, ranking fourth in program history, and his 39 tackles for loss places him in 11th all-time for the team. He is one of just three Aztecs to be named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and is one of two defensive linemen to earn three all-conference first-team selections in the team’s Division I era.
Zachary Thomas, 25, was an Aztec from 2016-21 before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He would go on to sign a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams in November 2022. He has spent each of the last two seasons in L.A. and made his NFL debut during in 2022.
As an Aztec, he started 41 games on the offensive line, earning two all-MW selections. Over the course of his final two collegiate seasons, he committed just three penalties on 1,144 total snaps.
San Diego State’s Aztec FAST Showcase starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Snapdragon Stadium, with various promotions available. It’s part of “Red and Black Weekend,” filled with activities around the team as it heads into its first season under new head coach Sean Lewis. Other events include a Friday golf tournament.
