
The recent Etchells Midwinters West, despite challenging conditions that led to one day of racing lost, wrapped up with a crew led by Bill Hardesty emerging as the victors.
Hardesty, joined by River Paquin and Brock Paquin, finished first at the second regatta of the West Coast Spring Series, according to the San Diego Yacht Club.
Eric Doyle, Grant Janov and Payson Infelize followed in second and Jim Cunningham, Steve Hunt, Erik Shampain and Serena Vilage, in third.
In addition, Parker Shinn, Dick Roy and Hayden Scott clinched the Corinthian Trophy.
Day 1 squalls forced officials to schedule four races on one day and three the next, despite another challenge, large swells.
The Etchells West Coast Spring Series continues with the Pacific Coast Championship, April 27-28, and the Orca Bowl, May 18-19. See the series standings here.
The series includes four regattas sailed in the Coronado Roads off Point Loma, and hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club.
The club’s opening day is nearing, on April 21. Beyond that, the club will host the 2024 Star World Championship, won by SDYC members 19 times, in September.
