A San Diego State University Aztecs baseball team player Monday was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, university officials said.

Colby Turner also received the honor on Feb. 26 and March 4, the fourth one for the Aztecs in 2024. Teammate Jake Jackson was named Freshman of the Week on Feb. 19.

Playing in the final two games of SDSU’s road series against Air Force last week, Turner led the team in several categories, including batting average (.625), 11 total bases, two home runs and three scored runs.

According to SDSU, Turner had multiple hits in both games and hit home runs in consecutive games for the first time in the season.

So far in the season, Turner leads the Mountain West with a .385 batting average and a .677 slugging percentage. He also shares the fifth spot with 25 hits and 44 total bases, and ranks seventh in the league with 17 RBIs, according to SDSU.

This weekend, the Aztecs will play the University of Hawaii in a three-game non-conference series at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.
