
The 44th annual Holiday Bowl will be played at Petco Park on Dec. 27 and be televised nationally on FOX.
The Holiday Bowl will feature top teams from the Pac-12 and ACC. Last year’s game featured a touchdown in the final minute by the Oregon Ducks to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels 28-27 before 36,242 fans.
For the second straight year, after the Holiday Bowl fans can enjoy fireworks by the KGB Sky Show.
“We look forward to welcoming thousands of college football fans back to San Diego this December to visit the region and celebrate the Holiday Bowl,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego, organizer of the bowl game.
He added that the organization is “fired up to showcase San Diego and the Holiday Bowl on broadcast television yet again in a prime-time slot on FOX.”
Dates and times for bowl week festivities, including the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade and the Snapdragon Bowl Bash, will be released in the coming weeks.
Tickets go on sale to bowl game annual ticket holders on July 31, with the general public able to buy tickets closer to the start of the college football season.
The mission of Sports San Diego, a non-profit 501c3 organization, is to generate tourism, visibility and economic impact for the San Diego region by producing and recruiting events for local and out-of-town fans. Since 1978, officials say the association has generated more than $1 billion in economic benefit for the San Diego region.
