NFL star Aaron Rodgers, who sparked debate in recent months for his COVID-19 vaccine stance, has sold a Del Mar home for $5.13 million, according to media reports.

Various outlets credited a New York Post report detailing the sale by the Green Bay Packers quarterback.

The real estate site Zillow lists the sale date of the home, on Rancho Nuevo, as Nov. 29. The 5,770 square-foot home, the listing notes, has five bedrooms and six bathrooms and sits on one acre on a cul-de-sac.

Amenities include a wine cellar and a movie theater. Realtor.com notes the home was built in 1989 and was purchased in 2009 for $2.05 million.

Rodgers, who is from Chico, also has residences in Malibu and Wisconsin, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Though his play in 2021 put him in contention for the NFL’s MVP award, Rodgers also became a COVID-19 flashpoint during the season after testing positive for the virus. He had claimed to have been “immunized” against COVID-19, but treatments he regarded as preventative did not include one of the recognized vaccines for the disease.

He followed the development by appearing on talk shows to defend his anti-vaccine stance, while also criticizing President Joe Biden and firing back at those who have accused him of spreading misleading information about COVID.

His team, though top-seeded, was eliminated from the NFL playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers last weekend.
