The San Diego Padres shared condolences with the El Paso community Saturday following a mass shooting that left 20 people dead.
The team has a connection to El Paso via their Class AAA team, the Chihuahuas.
The Padres tweeted that they were “heartbroken by the senseless tragedy” that had hit their “Chihuahuas family.”
The team also joined with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a moment of silence prior to their 4-1 loss.
The shooting took place at a Walmart store. Police held a 21-year-old man in connection with the case. He is also accused of leaving 26 people injured, according to the New York Times.
Investigators said they would determine if the suspect should face state murder charges or federal counts of domestic terrorism or hate crimes.
