UC San Diego men’s golfers recorded their best round of the season Thursday, leaving them tied for second place after the first day of play at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional at The Ledges in southwestern Utah.
UC San Diego golfed a 287 (-1), its lowest single round score since September 2016.
Navigato’s stellar round included two eagles and four birdies. His performance marked the third-best round of his career.
Hui, who has been UC San Diego’s top finisher in nine events this season, also has scored three rounds in the 60’s this year.
Dixie State University, the regional host, leads by four strokes after finishing with a 283 (-5). Sonoma State is tied with UC San Diego.
UC San Diego tees off in the second round at 11 a.m. Friday. The third and final round will take place Saturday.
