San Diego hockey fans are just a game away from seeing their Gulls make it to the playoffs, and chances are good the team will get there considering the Anaheim Ducks sent several of their top youngsters south for some ice time.

If the Gulls win their final regular season home game on Wednesday night against the San Jose Barracuda, then San Diego is in the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup Playoffs.

Even if the Gulls fall short against San Jose, there are still two final regular season away games–Friday and Saturday against the Tucson Roadrunners. A win in any of these three finals guarantees a playoff berth for the Gulls.

The Gulls are 6-3 on the season against the Barracuda, and an at-home win would be icing on the cake.

The Gulls roster is stacked heading into Wednesday’s 7 p.m. game at Pechanga Arena. The Gulls parent club, the Ducks, announced Monday that they have reassigned center Sam Steel, left wing Max Jones, and defensemen Jacob Larsson and Jaycob Megna to San Diego. All four young players spent a few months in the NHL with the Ducks, so their experience should help the Gulls.

Looking to catch the show against San Jose Wednesday? Tickets are still available for the game, with seating ranging from $22 to $106.
