The San Diego State baseball team was ranked in the top 25 by three major national polls Monday.
The Aztecs (16-7, 6-2 Mountain West) first cracked the top 25 in three weeks ago when they were ranked No. 25 by Baseball America. It was the first time SDSU was nationally ranked since April 2009 when it was ranked No. 19 by Baseball America.
On Monday, the Aztecs rose two spots to No. 23 after being at No. 25 for three consecutive weeks. The jump in ranking came after the Aztecs won the weekend series against then-No. 24 UNLV. SDSU defeated the Rebels 17-8 and 22-7.
SDSU also cracked D1 Baseball‘s top 25 at No. 23 and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper‘s national top 30 at No. 24.
The Aztecs are the third-highest ranked California program in D1 Baseball’s ranking, behind only No. 3 Stanford (17-2) and No. 15 UCLA (15-5).
In the Mountain West standings, the Aztecs are just a half-game back of first-place Nevada (12-8, 7-2 MW), which took two-of-three from Fresno State this weekend.
Next up, SDSU heads to Long Beach State (10-14) for a midweek game Tuesday before coming back home for a conference three-game series against New Mexico starting on Thursday and concluding on Saturday.
