UC San Diego men’s basketball standout Adam Klie has been named a San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month for February.
Klie was instrumental in leading the Tritons to a perfect 8-0 record and the school’s first ever California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season championship.
The senior guard averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 55 percent over the month.
On Feb. 4, Klie grabbed six boards against Cal State East Bay, making him UCSD’s Division II-era career rebounds leader. In the team’s regular season finale at Cal State San Bernardino, he scored a career-high 26 points to become UCSD’s D-II career points leader. The victory clinched the conference crown for the Tritons. Klie rounded out February by updating his career high to 29 points in a win against Humboldt State in a CCAA Tournament quarterfinal on Feb. 28.
Also in February, Klie was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for the third straight year. He holds a 4.0 GPA as a bioengineering major.
It is the third SDHOC Star of the Month award for Klie, who earned it during his sophomore and junior seasons as well.
