Chris Wagner scored twice, including the tie-breaking goal with 11 minutes, 24 seconds to play, as the San Diego Gulls defeated the Tucson Roadrunners, 2-1, Saturday in Tucson.

The victory extended the Gulls points streak to eight games, where they have seven victories and a shootout loss, matching the second-longest streak in their two seasons in the American Hockey League.

Jhonas Enroth stopped 25 of 26 shots for his fourth victory in his four games with the Gulls, the Anaheim Ducks AHL affiliate. Wagner deflected Brandon Montour’s slap shot for a power-play goal to give the Gulls (20-12-2-2) their first lead.

Wagner scored the tying goal with 1:29 left in the second period before a crowd at the Tucson Convention Center Arena announced at 5,102.

The Roadrunners (21-11-5-0) opened the scoring 10:02 into the first period on defenseman Anthony DeAngelo’s power-play goal. Adin Hill made 30 of his 37 saves in the final two periods for Tucson, the Arizona Coyotes AHL affiliate.

The Gulls scored on one of their three power-play opportunities and killed three of the Roadrunners four. The Gulls and Tucson will play for the third time in four nights Saturday. The Gulls were 8-1 winners on Wednesday.
