San Diego Gulls 2016 LogoThe San Diego Gulls will seek to extend their six-game winning streak Wednesday night when they play host to the Pacific Division-leading Tucson Roadrunners at the Valley View Casino Center.

Since last playing on Sunday, the Gulls had center Chris Wagner and defenseman Shea Theodore recalled by their NHL parent team, the Anaheim Ducks.

Wagner had a goal and two assists in Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Ontario Reign hours after his reassignment to the Gulls was announced. The game was Wagner’s first this season with the Gulls (8-5-1-0).

Theodore has seven assists in his nine games with the Gulls this season.

The Gulls No. 1 goaltender Matt Hackett will not be in uniform for a second consecutive game, a team official said.

Hackett suffered what the official described as an upper-body injury during a flurry in front of the net during Saturday’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Bakersfield Condors.

The Gulls defeated the Roadrunners, 5-3, in their season opener Oct. 14 at the Valley View Casino Center in their only previous meeting.

The two teams were scheduled to play twice last week in Tucson but the games were postponed by the American Hockey League and Roadrunners out of respect to Tucson captain Craig Cunningham.

Cunningham suffered a medical emergency on the ice before the start of a game Nov. 19 and remains hospitalized.

The Roadrunners (9-2-2-0) have split their two games since Cunningham was hospitalized.

The winning streak is the Gulls longest in their two seasons in the AHL.
