The list of injured San Diego Charger players increased by one more Wednesday, after inside linebacker Manti Te’o was placed on “Reserve/Injured” because of a torn Achilles.
During the first quarter of their game against Indianapolis on Sudnay, Te’o tore his Achilles. Te’o leads the team with 21 tackles thus far, and joins Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates as notable players sidelined.
His replacement, inside linebacker Korey Toomer, comes to San Diego after being signed off of the Raiders’ practice squad. The 6-2, 235-pound 27-year-old has seen time with four other teams, making stops in Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis and Oakland before coming to the Chargers. He has appeared in 18 career games, 10 of which came for the Raiders in 2010, where he contributed nine tackles while seeing most of his time on special teams.
Originally a product of Las Vegas, NV, at Shadow Ridge High School, Toomer spent his collegiate career at Arizona Western College and the University of Idaho.
