The San Diego Padres have named former stars Trevor Hoffman and Dave Winfield as the spokesmen for the 2016 all-star festivities.

The two San Diego legends will “help to generate public excitement and awareness” for the All-Star game this July, according to Padres.com.

The 87th edition of the Midsummer Classic is being held for the first time at Petco Park, which opened in 2004.

It is the third time the game will be held in San Diego, as it took place here in 1978 and then again in 1992.

The All-Star game will be played on July 12, with festivities taking place in the days and weeks prior.

Hoffman and Winfield both spent major portions of their careers with the Padres, and Winfield was on the National League roster in the ’78 game.

Hoffman played 16 season with the Padres, and retired as the all-time leader in saves with 601 in his illustrious career.

Winfield became the first player to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Padre in 2001 after playing his first eight seasons in San Diego as part of a 22-year career.

Both players are in the Padres Hall of Fame, as Winfield was inducted in 2000 and Hoffman in 2014.
