The San Diego Padres started off 2016 in record-setting fashion by becoming the first team in MLB history to be shut out in each game of its opening series.

The low light was punctuated by the Padres’ 5-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.

The Dodgers won game one by setting their own record, winning their opening day game 15-0, the largest shutout margin by any team on opening day.

Game two was a low scoring affair, as Los Angeles won 3-0, with a two-run triple from Yasiel Puig in the fourt being the only offense that it would need.

In total, the Padres lost by a mark of 25-0 in the three game affair, giving them an ERA of eight.

San Diego could only muster 11 hits in its opening series, a number that Los Angeles tallied on Wednesday night alone.

Center fielder John Jay was the only Padre with a hit in all three games, as he had three hits in 12 at bats.

San Diego will try to recover and record a run when it faces off with the Colorado Rockies on the road on Friday afternoon.
