The San Diego Padres pitchers and catchers arrived in Peoria, Arizona, for spring training Thursday morning, and on Wednesday they finalized their spring training roster.

The team’s non-roster invites extended to veteran players who have a good chance at making the club, veteran who have a long shot to make the club and prospects who the team hopes to get a look at.

Highlighting the list of veteran players likely to make the roster is utility player Skip Schumaker, who the team signed to a minor-league deal in early February.

Two pitchers who played for the Padres last season are right-hander Brandon Morrow and left-hander Frank Garces, who were both signed to minor-league deals in the offseason.

Possibly the most intriguing player on the list is outfielder Hunter Renfroe, who’s ranked as the team’s No. 2 prospect according to MLB.com.

Renfroe has a chance to play his way into a starting or reserve outfield spot with a good spring training.
