Newly signed San Diego Padres reliever Fernando Rodney left a Caribbean Series game Thursday with leg tightness, according to MLB.com
The team also finalized the reliever’s one-year $1.6 million contract on that day as well.
However, the move to take Rodney out of the game was just “precautionary” according to the report.
Fernando Rodney was taken out of the game as a precautionary measure, DR manager said. He felt some leg tightness earlier in the week.

Rodney is believed to be the favorite for the team’s closer position, as he has the most experience of any reliever on the roster for that position.
The Padres have not yet made a comment about the possible injury and removal from the game.
Playing with the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Series, Rodney has pitched 2 2/3 innings and has allowed three runs, one earned, and has struck out five batters.
