Seeing Lincecum in a Padres uniform may come as a relief for the team, as he threw no-hitters against them in back-to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014 as a member of the San Francisco Giants.
His no-hitter against the team in 2013 was the first-ever at Petco Park.
From 2008-11, Lincecum, 31, was one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball. During those seasons he racked up back-to-back Cy Young Awards (2008-09), made four All-Star appearances and led the National League in strikeouts for three straight seasons (2008-10).
Since that span, he hasn’t had a season with a sub-4.00 ERA and pitched just 76 1/3 innings last season through 15 starts.
If signed by the Padres, it’s unclear whether they would use him as a starter or long reliever.
