University of San Diego picked up its first West Coast Conference win Thursday against Portland, but could not make it a winning streak Saturday when they were defeated by No. 21 Gonzaga, 88-52, in Spokane, Washington.

Senior guard Duda Sanadze led the Toreros with 17 points and was the only player to score in double figures for USD. It was not a great shooting night for the Toreros with a 31.3 percent mark from the field and 19.2 percent mark from behind the arc.

The Toreros now move to 1-5 in conference which puts them all alone in last place.

As mentioned, the team’s only conference win came last Thursday with an 82-71 win over Portland. That was the team’s first win since Dec. 23 when they beat CSU Northridge.

The signature win for the Toreros so far this season came against cross-town rival San Diego State on Dec. 6 at Petco Park.

USD is back in action next Thursday when they travel up to Malibu to take on Pepperdine at 6 p.m. The game can be seen on Time Warner Cable Sports Network and can be heard on ESPN 1700 AM.
