Defensemen Korbinian Holzer and Shea Theodore on Saturday became the first members of the San Diego Gulls to be recalled by the parent Anaheim Ducks.

Holzer and Theodore were recalled after the NHL team placed defensemen Simon Despres and Clayton Stoner on injured reserve.

Holzer and Theodore both played in both of the Gulls American Hockey League games. Holzer was scoreless and had a minus-one plus-minus rating, meaning he was on the ice for one more even-strength or short-handed goal allowed by the Gulls than they scored.

Theodore had one assist and a team-high equaling plus-three plus-minus rating.

Holzer was acquired by the Ducks in a 2015 trade with Toronto. He has played 58 NHL games, all with Toronto. Holzer played for his native Germany in the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 and 2011 world championships.

Theodore was chosen by the Ducks in the first round of the 2013 NHL draft. He has not played in the NHL.

Defenseman Andrew O’Brien was reassigned to the Gulls today from the Utah Grizzlies, the Ducks ECHL affiliate.

The Gulls were among five AHL teams to move to California this year in an effort to reduce travel times when players are recalled or sent down by their parent NHL teams.

The Ducks are scheduled to play host to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
