Nevin is one of many candidates who are expected to be interviewed for the position. He’s been a manager in the minor leagues since 2009 for Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks affiliates.
Another person the Padres have show interest in is former Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, according to a San Diego Union Tribune report. Gardenhire managed the Twins for 14 years before being fired in 2014.
The Padres have also plan on interviewing former infielder Alex Cora , according to CBS Sports. Cora has no managerial experience in either the minors or majors, but could be a hot candidate.

Former Texas Rangers manager – and current Oakland A’s third base coach – Ron Washington has also been connected to the team due to his relationship with general manager A.J. Preller, who was the Rangers’ assistant general manager before being hired by the Padres in 2014.
