The Sweetwater Valley Little League Friday won its opening game of the Little League World Series 14-2 over an entrant from Bowling Green, KY.

The contest in South Williamsport, PA, was stopped in the fourth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.

The team was scheduled to begin play in the 16- team tournament Thursday, but its game was postponed because of rain, along with the other three games planned for the day.

Bonita-based Sweetwater Valley is 16-0 in its four tournaments, including outscoring its four opponents, 50-22, in the West Regional to become the 11th team from San Diego County to qualify for the Little League World Series.
