Starting and finishing near the San Diego LGBT Community Center, a record 737 people took part Saturday morning in the San Diego Pride 5-kilometer Run/Walk.

Race director Enrique Fonseca said, “It was a perfect morning for the 5K,” which started at 9:30 a.m. “The rain did not affect us.”

The men’s winner was Andrew Falkiewicz of San Diego, with a time of 16 minutes 5 seconds for the 3.1-mile out and back course. Falkiewicz, 27, also won the Crown City Classic 12K on the Fourth of July in Coronado, clocking 41:19.

San Diego State distance runner Elaine Ribeiro of La Mesa was the women’s winner in 18:29 at the event organized by Front Runners and Walkers San Diego.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — the 2016 Olympic host — Ribeiro, 20, was a four-year star at Helix Charter High School.

Other awards were given, but all finishers at University Avenue and Centre Street were greeted with a rainbow popsicle as they crossed the finish line, Fonseca said. Complete results are here.
