San Diego Chargers fan and season ticket holder Byron Moore has created a petition to rid Chargers special counsel Mark Fabiani of his position in stadium negotiations with the city and county.
“For the Chargers to remain in San Diego, the team, the City and the County need to negotiate in good faith,” Jones stated in the petition. “Many people are extremely concerned that with Mr. Fabiani at the negotiating table, the Chargers will continue to try and sabotage talks. We can’t afford for that to happen, especially while the Chargers make steady progress in Carson.”
The petition, created on Thursday through Change.org, had 172 supporters at the time this article was published.
Many have viewed Fabiani as a road block in negotiations, and that his ultimate goal is to get the team into a new stadium in Carson.
“Mr. Fabiani has been trying to sabotage efforts in San Diego for a while. We know, for example, that Mr. Fabiani told Mayor Kevin Faulconer last year, as the team was secretly working on its Carson plan, not to rush things in San Diego,” Moore said in the protest.
Moore also goes on to mention a San Diego Union Tribune article from sports columnist Kevin Acee that stated he believed the Chargers sabotaged the city by “slow playing” them.
