San Diego State University men’s basketball‘s season ended Sunday with a 68-49 loss to Duke University, but it was still the third best season in the Aztecs‘ history.
The team finished with a record of 27-9. The 27 wins are the third most in school history.
The Aztecs advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the third straight season. SDSU is one of only nine schools to accomplish the feat.
“We got beat up tonight by a really good team,” said SDSU Coach Steve Fisher. “But we represented San Diego State and ourselves in a fashion that a mom and a dad and the university president and the coach could be proud.”
After the game in Charlotte, No. 1 seed Duke advances to face fifth-seeded Utah in Houston’s South Regional semifinals.
