Cal State San Marcos capped of its regular season on Tuesday with a 79-71 win over reigning national champ Vanguard in Costa Mesa to put them at a 26-3 record.

Senior forward Julian Camper scored a career high 25 points on 11-15 shooting to help lead the way for the Cougars.

Camper ended the regular season with 17 straight games that he scored in double digits.

CSUSM had the lead the entire game and fended off a late rally by Vanguard,  in which they cut the lead to two, by going on an 8-0 run and never looked back.

Senior guard Blake Nash, who is leading the team in points-per-game (17.0), added 13 along with junior guard Dayton Bodie.

Nash also added a team-high eight rebounds.

Now the Cougars await their seed for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I) Conference Championship from March 6-8 in Montgomery, W. Va.

Last season they won their first ever A.I.I Conference Championship before being defeated in the quarterfinals of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship.
