The University of San Diego Toreros were defeated at St. Mary’s 70-58 on Thursday night.
The Toreros trailed by as many as 17 in the first half, but were able to pull within two (47-45) in the second half.
However, the Gaels then went on an 8-0 run which propelled them past USD.
Senior guard Johnny Dee (Rancho Buena Vista) led the Toreros with 14 points, 12 of which came in the second half.
The real difference maker for St. Mary’s was its senior center Brad Waldow who had a game-high 25 points, and also had six rebounds.
Junior guard Duda Sanadze and redshirt-sophomore forward Brandon Perry each contributed 10 points for the Toreros.
USD (9-10, 2-5) will stay on the road, and will Play Pacific at 7 p.m. on Jan. 17.
