San Diego State beat Wyoming 60-52 Wednesday night at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyoming, something they were not able to do last season.

The Aztecs led the entire second half en-route to handing Wyoming (15-3, 4-1) its first loss in Mountain West Conference play.

They were the last remaining undefeated team in conference play.

SDSU hit 76 percent of its free throws, over 10 percent higher than its season average (62 percent), and made 10 in the last two minutes of the game.

Freshman guard Trey Kell (St. Augustine) hit a team-high nine free throws on 10 attempts, and ended with 12 points.

The Aztecs were also able to control the rim, and out-rebounded Wyoming 34-26. Junior center’s Skylar Spencer and Angelo Chol each had three blocks.

Senior guard Aqeel Quinn led the Aztecs with 14 points.  Junior guard Winston Shepard scored 10 points, and added a team-high six rebounds.

Wednesday night’s win was the second in a row for the Aztecs, after they beat New Mexico 56-42 at home on Jan. 6.

SDSU (13-4. 3-1) will now come back home to play UNLV this Saturday at 3 p.m.
