San Diego State men’s basketball lost 59-57 to Fresno St. Saturday night in Fresno.
The loss snapped the Aztecs 47-game winning streak against schools from California, the longest active streak against a school’s home state in the country. The last time SDSU lost to a California school was against Pacific in 2009.
SDSU clawed back from an 18-point deficit in the second half to knot the game up at 40.
However, 18 turnovers proved to be the undoing of the Aztecs, and was one of the key reasons that the Bulldogs were able to come away with the victory.
Two ringleaders in helping the Aztecs get back into the game were senior guard Aqeel Quinn and redshirt-sophomore forward Matt Shrigley.
Quinn led the team with 19 points, and Shrigley knocked down four three-pointers en-route to a 12-point effort.
SDSU (11-4, 1-1) is now one loss away from matching its entire 2013-14 total with 16 games left to play.
The Aztecs will now come back home to play New Mexico on Jan. 6, at 8 p.m..
