
Oceanside continued its perfect season on Saturday when they beat Helix 20-13 to capture the CIF San Diego Section Open Division Football Championship at Southwestern High School.
It was the 15th football title in Oceanside history, and the 13th by head coach John Carroll.
Fueled by the top ranked defense in San Diego, the Pirates (13-0) finished their fourth undefeated season in school history, and now wait to see who they will draw in the Division I state playoffs.
According to a report from UT-San Diego the Pirates have a solid chance at hosting their state playoff matchup.
On Friday night, St. Augustine wrapped up the Division I San Diego Section Championships by defeating Madison 49-42, and El Capitan squeaked past Rancho Bernardo, 14-7, to win the Division II title on Saturday night.
As for the rest of the brackets in the San Diego Section, Christian won Division III, Bishop’s secured the Division VI title and La Jolla Country Day won the Division V championship.
