The Cal State San Marcos men’s soccer team set a new school record with their 13th win of the season Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a 4-1 win over Point Loma,  at the CSUSM Multipurpose Field.

After reaching the 12-win mark in 2006 and 2010, the Cougars were able to get over the hump, thanks in large part to a seven-game win streak which matches a program record.

“I like our chances moving forward. We won 13 games for the first time and I think our guys have taken ownership of setting the new benchmark,” CSUSM head coach Ron Pulvers said. “Now, we have to refocus, try and win the conference, and get a bid to nationals. We’ve got a lot of goals ahead of us that we still want to accomplish. This one is sweet, we’ll enjoy it, and then we’ll look forward to next week.”

With the win, the Cougars push their record to 13-3 which puts them tied for No. 2  in the A.I.I.(Association of Independent Institutions) Group Poll, as they head into the A.I.I Conference Championships on Nov. 14-15 in Clinton, Iowa.
