In the wake of the Chargers’ 35-21 loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday, a fear exists that 2014 first-round pick Jason Verrett may miss extended time due to re-aggravating a shoulder injury, according to FOX Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo.

Verrett ended the night in a sling. Tests today will tell full story. Shocking he played at all last night. Defending Den the reason why. — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) October 24, 2014
Verrett exited the game early in the second quarter, after being listed as questionable to begin the game, and missing last week’s game against the Chiefs.
Like Garafolo mentioned, it came as a surprise to many that Verrett was activated for the game. However, with starting corner Brandon Flowers out due to a concussion, there was a greater emphasis placed on Verrett being able to play.
Verrett’s shoulder issues stem from his day’s at TCU where he suffered a torn labrum and had surgery to repair it in April.
San Diego travels to Miami next Sunday to take on the Dolphins, a game in which Verrett is not expected to play, according to UT-San Diego Chargers beat writer Michael Gehlken.
