The Encinitas Little League all-star team is scheduled to play twice Monday in the West Regional tournament in San Bernardino because a thunderstorm forced postponement of its Sunday game.

Encinitas is scheduled to begin play at 8:30 a.m. against the all-star team from the Dixie Little League of St. George, UT, the Utah state champion, in a game originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Encinitas’ game against all-star team from the Pacifica Little League, the Northern California champion, which had been scheduled for Sunday, was rescheduled for 7 p.m.

Dixie lost to the Mountain Ridge Little League all-stars from Las Vegas, 11-1 on Friday. Dixie and Encinitas are the only teams in the six-team tournament to have played only once. Encinitas lost to the Honolulu Little League all-star team, 9-2, Saturday

Pacifica, the Northern California champion, is 1-1, losing to Honolulu, 10-5, Friday, and defeating the all-star team from the Chandler National Little League, the Arizona state champion, 7-3, Saturday.

Encinitas, the Southern California champion, is 13-3 in four tournaments.

A watch party will be held at Oggi’s Pizza and Brewing on Encinitas Boulevard for the 7 p.m. game.

All pool play games will be televised by the ESPN3 broadband network. The tournament is played at Al Houghton Stadium.

All six teams in the regional will play four pool play games. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, which will be played Friday. The semifinal winners will play in the regional final Saturday.

The tournament winner will advance to the Little League World Series, which is played in South Williamsport, PA. Ten teams from San Diego County have played in the Little League World Series, including the Eastlake Little League all-star team from Chula Vista last year.

This is the first time a team from the Encinitas Little League, which was formed in 1957, has advanced to the West Regional, according to league officials.
