The San Diego Padres will host a doubleheader of sorts Sunday when two Mexican Baseball League teams meet up following the Padres-Atlanta Braves match-up.
The Tijuana Toros will take on the hot Mexico City Diablos about a half hour after the Padre game ends. The game is included in regular admission to Petco Park.
The Toros are 47-51 and in sixth place in the Zona Norte of the league, trailing far behind the Diablos, which is in first place with a 62-34 record. The Diablos have the best record in the league.
Sunday is a busy day for the Padres, who are offering a host of other events for fans that day. Sunday also will be Photo Day and the team will host a Kids Fest with bounce houses, face painting and other age-appropriate attractions.
Tickets remain on sale for the game and promotional pricing is available.
The Padres, like the Toros, are flailing and are far behind in the National League West in third place with a 46-59 record.
The team also is pointing fans to other attractions happening during the homestand, which starts Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Long Haul Bombers softball team will offer an exhibition before Wednesday’s game, which also will be College Night, with discounts for students about to head off to school and a DJ to entertain them. Twenty wineries will offer their specialties Friday for Wine Fest and an Imperial Beach favorite, the IB Posse, will build a special sandcastle at Petco.
The IB Posse, former champions at the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition, have had a long-time partnership with the Padres and have appeared often at the ballpark.
