Just in time for draft day, Chargers safety Eric Weddle added a new player to his team–a daughter, whose birth was announced Thursday via Twitter:
“And boom. Here she is. The #beardbaby. Kamri Jo Weddle. 8 lbs. 13 ounces. Mommy beard is doing great!”
The very bearded Weddle tweets via his impressive facial hair with the Twitter handle @weddlesbeard. With nearly 11,000 Twitter followers, Weddle’s fans began tweeting their congratulations almost as soon as the announcement was made. (You can read some of their reactions in the Storify below.)
Kamri Jo is the third daughter for Weddle and his wife, Chanel, who have four children. Weighing in at nearly 9 pounds, the family’s newest little linebacker looks to fit right into the arm of her 5′ 11″, 200-pound proud papa.
A native Southern Californian and graduate of the University of Utah, Weddle, 29, was drafted by the Chargers in 2007.
