With 18 points and six rebounds, Dwayne Polee II led No. 8 San Diego State to a 59-51 win over UNLV in the men’s basketball semifinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament Friday night.

While San Diego State is headed to the NCAA tournament, UNLV’s loss dealt a severe blow to the Nevada school’s chances of making it to the tournament for a fifth consecutive year.

San Diego State was expected to finish two spots lower than the UNLV Rebels in the preseason Mountain West poll, but beat the Rebels for the third time in this season and the second time in 10 days at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
