The San Diego Aviators selected Daniela Hantuchova, who has won 19 professional tournaments in singles, doubles or mixed doubles, in the second round of today’s World TeamTennis marquee draft.

The Aviators used their first-round choice to protect Bob and Mike Bryan, tennis’ top-ranked men’s doubles team, who they acquired last month in a trade with the Texas Wild.

The 30-year-old Hantuchova became the fifth woman to complete a career Grand Slam in mixed doubles when she won the U.S. Open in 2005, her fourth mixed doubles championship.

Hantuchova has also won six Women’s Tennis Association singles titles, most recently last year in the Aegon Classic in Birmingham, England, and nine women’s doubles championships. Hantuchova is 30th on the WTA singles rankings.

The Aviators will complete their roster through the league’s roster player draft March 11.
