The San Diego County Fair commercials can’t show you everything that’s on tap when it takes over the Del Mar Fairgrounds starting Wednesday.
But we can help. Here’s a look at the cultural celebrations and some of the more unusual events we spotted on the fair’s comprehensive calendar. (The fair notes that more events could be added between now and when the event closes on July 5.
These listings do not include the fair’s many daily attractions like the Flying Royals or Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, or the entertainment tracks featuring established artists like the Paddock Concert Series, Toyota Summer Concert Series and the Summer Nights at the Sound series.
June 12
- Manga vs Comics exhibition at the Theme Exhibit area, running limited dates through July 7.
- School of Rock Otay Ranch House Band at the Michelob ULTRA Avenue Stage, 3:45 p.m.
June 13
- Asian & Pacific Islander Festival at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 14
- Native American Heritage Day at the Del Mar Arena, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
June 19
- Juneteenth Festival at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Shrek Rave Presents ‘Shrekno’ at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, 9 p.m.
- SoCal Pro Wrestling at the Del Mar Arena, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
June 20
- Out At The Fair at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 21
- Los Darth Vatos at the Michelob ULTRA Avenue Stage, 3:15 p.m.
- Corgi Races at the Del Mar Arena presented by So Cal Corgi Nation, 5 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
June 24
- Fast CAT: OK a little bit of an explanation here: don’t let the name fool you; it actually stands for Coursing Ability Test — a 100-yard speed test for dogs. Presented by the Del Sur Kennel Club, the doggies will be dashing at the Del Mar Arena through June 26.
June 25
- Alive In The Garden – Rose Day at the Garden Show, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 28
- K-Pop Festival at the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
July 1
- Monster Trucks at the Del Mar Arena, 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. event times through July 5.
July 4
- The annual Fireworks Spectacular at the Corona Grandstand Stage kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with a live performance from Marine Band San Diego; the firework display starts at 9 p.m.
